A native of México, Paty has been slowly inching north, moving to Baton Rouge, LA in 1978, to West Lafayette, IN in 1985, before settling down in New Haven, CT in 1990.

She earned a B. Sc. In Chemistry in 1977 (ITESM) before leaving México, and once settled in Connecticut she obtained her M. Sc. in 2005 (SCSU).

She started her professional career as a Research Assistant in 1990, before moving over to the publishing world, starting as an Editorial Assistant for Wiley’s Journal of Computational Chemistry in 2002. In 2004 she transitioned to the American Chemical Society working first for the Journal of Chemical Information and Computer Sciences as it morphed into the present Journal of Chemical Information and Modelling, and for the Journal of Chemical Theory and Computation from its founding in 2005 until 2021. She joined Technica Editorial in 2022.

Outside of the office, Paty enjoys cross stitching, gardening, yoga and spending time with her two granddaughters.
