Writers, it’s January 2026. Crazy!
While the rest of the world is shouting about goals and resolutions, vision boards and productivity hacks, here at Technica Editorial, we like to begin the year a little differently.
We like to ask a single question:
What kind of writing year do you want this to be?
We’re not talking about having a perfect year, and not even the most productive year.
We like to think about it as a year that feels aligned, encouraging, and most of all, sustainable.
What Are You Carrying with You into 2026?
Before we charge ahead, let’s pause for a moment. This isn’t about having a full year plan right now. You also don’t need a word count calendar or a perfectly color-coded editorial tracker.
What you do need is a sense of where you are and what you’re bringing with you into the new year.
We encourage you to ask yourself the following questions:
• What writing projects or story ideas are pulling at you?
• What do you want to feel more of in your writing life this year?
Now, keep in mind, you don’t need to have all the answers right now! Just ask the questions. That is a solid first step.
A Few Resources to Get You Grounded
If you’re looking for support as you ease into the new year, here’s what we’ve got waiting for you:
The Technica Resource Library
From goal setting to character development to story structure, there’s a resource for you. It’s free and growing.
Bourbon & Books: Planning & Productivity for Authors
Short, honest videos on sustainable writing habits, batching content, author marketing, and building momentum.
Let’s Talk About Momentum
Here’s a mindset the Technica Editorial team is leaning into this year:
You don’t need big goals; you need clear intention and consistent momentum.
Momentum means:
• Showing up, even when it’s not perfect
• Writing the next scene, even when it’s messy
• Protecting your creative space and time without apology
• Trusting that even a little bit of progress is still real progress
Whether you’re planning to draft something new, revise a long-suffering manuscript, write “The End,” or finally press “Publish,” remember:
The year doesn’t need to start fast. It just needs to start honestly.
One Last Thought
Your writing life belongs to you, and you alone. It’s not about competing with others and their process. You get to design it. You get to change it. You get to shape it into something that fits you.
So wherever you’re starting from this January, whether it’s page one, chapter fifteen, mid-brainstorm, or something else, we are right here in your corner.
Cheers to a wonderful 2026!
