Book Review: Launch, by Jeff Walker

We love sharing books that really resonate with us, and that offer solid takeaways for authors. Launch, by Jeff Walker, is just such a book.

If you’re an author, entrepreneur, or just someone with a killer idea itching to hit the market, this book should be your Go To. Read it. Take notes. Process. Then DO.

We think it may just be your golden ticket to success.

That’s a bold statement, but we believe it. Reading this book feels like having an experienced mentor guiding you through the entire process of launching your product, aka your book, since, if you’re reading this, it’s likely you’re an author!

First things first, let’s talk about Jeff Walker. He’s not your typical guru spouting off generic advice. He’s not a marketer by trade, either. He’s just a smart guy who came up with a smart way to launch a product. He’s been in the “trenches”. He hustled and learned the ropes just like the rest of us do. Because of this, his message and method come across with authenticity. He’s not just spewing theoretical marketing strategies. He’s sharing a strategic plan that can really work, and the tactics to use to have that success. He’s sharing real-world strategies that have worked for him and countless others.

As you can see, we’re fans, but let’s delve into Walker’s Product Launch Formula (PLF). That’s what really grabbed our attention. The PLF has the potential to be a game-changer. Walker breaks the PLF down into four launch types:

1. Seed Launch: This is all about building buzz and excitement before your big launch day. Walker walks us through exactly how to do it, from creating irresistible pre-launch content to growing our audience and priming them for the big event.

2. Internal Launch: If you have an existing network, newsletter/email list, or customer base, this launch is all about leveraging those. Imagine throwing a really killer party and inviting all your friends. Big fun! Except instead of serving your guests snacks and drinks, you’re offering an irresistible offer and/or exclusive deal. Walker teaches us how to tap into our ‘warm audience’.

3. Joint Venture Launch: The Joint Venture Launch is basically an affiliate program. It’s a ‘you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours’ approach. Working with someone who has a robust email list, and offering them a percentage of sales generated from the sharing of your product to that list is an amazing way to grow your visibility and perceived value in your field.

4. Evergreen Launch: This launch is designed to create ongoing, automated revenue streams. Where traditional launches have a specific start and end date, an evergreen launch runs continuously.

Walker explains each of these launch types clearly, and he gives step-by-step instructions and tips. Beyond that, he also shares success stories that show how his PLF has worked for real people.

One of the big takeaways for us is that the PLF is about building genuine connections and creating a community. For Walker, it’s all about storytelling and authenticity. This is one of the things we love most about Launch. It underscores the value we got from Kindra Scott’s Stories that Stick (Link: https://technicaeditorial.com/stories-that-stick/)

Like Scott, Walker is a good storyteller. He weaves his own personal journey throughout the book (starting with how he was desperate to make money, came up with an idea, and ran with it), even sharing the ups and downs. He comes across as honest and very accessible.

Launch is filled with practical advice and actionable strategies that are actually doable (without any prior training needed!). If you’re looking for a new way to build your brand, share a new release, or something else entrepreneurial, we highly recommend Launch, by Jeff Walker. It’s got a permanent place on our list of “must-reads”.

So go ahead, grab yourself a copy, have that highlighter ready, and get ready to be inspired.  We feel confident you will learn something from this book.
